Richarlison?

Second Article as we approach the season, is Richarlison worth all the hype? This was a player who made his way into most of our FPL teams during the early weeks but then faded out as the season went by. In retrospect, it was also right after Marco Silva left Watford. Now that he is reunited with his old manager, can we expect him to rediscover his early season form.

While many have included him in their teams since he has joined his old manager, hoping for the combination to work once again, his move to Everton in fact does not change much for me. Personally, while I do think Silva will be able to bring out the best in him, Everton have a number of outstanding FPL attackers while his pitchtime could be affected due to the depth in their squad which neutralizes the positives in his move to Everton as an FPL asset.

Looking at the data, his output did indeed drop slightly in the second half of the season. However, the most encouraging thing is that Richarlison was incredibly unlucky while still posting some great numbers even after Silva left. His overall numbers at the end of the season were elite level and is right up there in the mix with premium assets such as Mane, Mahrez, Hazard, Sane etc.

Here are the key stats that I will let do the talking:

Total attempts on Goal: 95 (ranked 4th, behind only Salah, Kane and Eriksen)

Shots in penalty box: 74 (ranked 5th, behind Salah, Kane, Lukaku and Aguero)

Headed goal attempts: 24 (ranked 2nd, behind Kane)

Total Big Chance: 17 (similar to the likes of Mane, Alli, Sanchez, David Silva)

Conclusion – Second name on my team after Salah
